Polovtsian Dances (Prince Igor Opera) Sheet Music
also known as Polovetsian Dances Strangers In Paradise Polowetzer Tänze Sheet Music
The Polovtsian Dances (a.k.a Polovetsian Dances) that feature in the opera Prince Igor are by far the most well known piece by Alexander Borodin. Prince Igor is an opera in four acts, but it remained unfinished at Borodin's death in 1887. It was left to fellow Russian composers Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Alexander Glazunov to finish Prince Igor. The opera premiered in St. Petersburg in 1890 and in the USA in 1915. The Polovtsian Marches from Act 3, the overture and the Polovtsian Dances combined form the "suite" from the opera. Polovtsian Dances, with new lyrics, became a world hit as Strangers in Paradise in the Broadway show Kismet.
In 1997 the hip-hop artist Warren G used the main them from Polovtsian Dances in his tune Prince Igor
(from the album Rhapsody Overture). The Soprano Sissel Kyrkjebø featured on the track which became a world-wide hit.
