O Little Town Of Bethlehem (US Version) Sheet Music

also known as Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem Sheet Music
Artist and Writer: Lewis H. Redner (also known as Henry)
O Little Town Of Bethlehem (Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem) is a very popular Christmas Carol. The priest Phillips Brooks is credited with writing the lyrics, and his church organist Lewis Redner set these to music. The melody Redner chose appears to be based on his tune “St. Louis”. Confusingly, the version of O Little Town Of Bethlehem that is popular in the United Kingdom has an entirely different melody (both version share the same lyrics, however). The music displayed on this page represent the version of O Little Town Of Bethlehem that is popular throughout North America. We have therefore dubbed it the US Version (with no offence intended toward our Canadian friends).

O little town of Bethlehem,
How still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by;
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight.
