"Iko Iko" is a true classic of New Orleans jazz with elemnets of funk, rhythm and blues. It was originally recorded in 1953 based on a much older traditional New Orleans folk song. The infectious tune is fun, lively and well written with an irresistible call-and-response hook and driving beat casuing it to have been covered by many artists over the decades including Dom Pipkin, Dr. John and The Dixie Cups.

Dom Pipkin has a band named for the song, The Iko's, and we saw him sing it atP izza Express Soho, London in March 2024 abd the 606 Club in Chelsea, London on 16th April 2024. Featured that evening were Jonny Gee on the double bass and Jimmy Norden on the drums.
