Trumpet Voluntary Sheet Music
also known as Prince of Denmark's March Sheet Music Artist: Jeremiah Clarke |
The Trumpet Voluntary was at first considered to have been written by Henry Purcell, but now scholars now believe that it was written by Jeremiah Clarke. The Trumpet Voluntary has been a popular tune for use in wedding ceremonies. Confusingly the title Trumpet Voluntary has been used for many Baroque pieces, but the composition featured here was originally a rondo for keyboard entitled: Prince of Denmark's March. Sir Henry Wood, the English conductor associated with the “Proms” concert, arranged the most well known arrangement of the Trumpet Voluntary. Jeremiah Clarke ended his own life by shooting himself, having "A violent and hopeless passion for a very beautiful lady of a rank superior to his own". I may therefore be fitting that a piece so popular at weddings was written by a man so passionately in love.
Included below you will find our Brass Quintet arrangements of Trumpet Voluntary. The individual instrumental parts are included in the purchase of the full score of Trumpet Voluntary. You are of course able to preview the full score as well as the individual parts.
