O Canada is the National Anthem of Canda (Anthem Hymne national du Canada). The music for O Canada was written by Calixa Lavallée. French lyrics to accompany the music of O Canada were written by Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier. The official English version of O Canada was written by Robert Stanley Weir in 1908. "O Canada" was proclaimed Canada's national anthem on July 1, 1980. Up until then “God Save The Queen” and “The Maple Leaf Forever” had been used unofficially as the Canadian National Anthem.
