This Largo is featured in Handel's Italian opera Xerxes (also known as Serse). The opera was never a success however, and was quickly withdrawn. Having fallen into obscurity the opera was revived in the 1980s. The Largo was also featured in the 1988 motion picture Dangerous Liaisons featuring Glen Close, Michelle Pfeiffer and John Malkovich.
