Here We Come A-Wassailing is a popular Christmas carol. The origins of
the music and the text are unknown. “Wassailing” entails going from
door-to-door singing Christmas carols and requesting a “wassail” or
some other refreshment in return. A Wassail is a spiced Christmas
punch. Here is the first stanza of the lyrics:
Here we come a-wassailing
Among the leaves so green,
Here we come a-wand'ring
So fair to be seen.
Love and joy come to you,
And to you your wassail, too,
And God bless you, and send you
A Happy New Year,
