Prelude No. 1 In C Major, Well Tempered Clavier Book 1, BWV 846 Sheet Music
also known as Präludium Nr. 1 Wohltemperiertes Klavier (BWV 846) Sheet Music Artist and Writer: Johann Sebastian Bach (also known as J. S. Bach) |
The Prelude in C Major (BWV 846) is the first piece in Book 1 of the world-famous Well Tempered Clavier (a.k.a. Das wohltemperirte Clavier/Das wohltemperierte Klavier) by Johann Sebastian Bach. This particular Prelude in C Major is probably the most famous piece out of all. It is surprisingly easy to play, as it only consists of chord arpeggios. Nevertheless this simplicity gives the piece melodic and harmonic beauty, and the Prelude in C Major (BWV 846) is often on of the more “serious” pieces that a budding pianist will learn to play. Charles Gounod famously used this piece for his Ave Maria. (not to be confused by the Ave Maria of Franz Schubert).
