Pachelbel's Canon in D Major is one of the most well-known pieces of classical music. It is also known as Pachelbel's Canon, Canon in D and Canon in D major. Johann Pachelbel, a Baroque composer and organist from Germany, wrote the tune/music. Apart from his Canon in D, Pachelbel’s music is rarely played. The piece of music is originally for three violins and “Basso Continuo”. The original title of Pachelbel’s Canon in D Major is “Kanon und Gigue in D-Dur für drei Violinen und Basso Continuo”. The Canon in D is one of the most popular pieces of music at weddings. The sheet music of the Canon in D consists of a two-bar, four note bass line that repeats throughout the piece.
