O Little Town Of Bethlehem is a very popular Christmas Carol. The
priest Phillips Brooks wrote the lyrics, and his church organist Lewis
Redner wrote the original music for the piece. The version displayed
here however, uses the melody of an English tune called “Forest Green”,
which was adapted by the English composer Vaughan Williams. This is the
version most known in the United Kingdom. Both the English and North American version
share the same lyrics. There is a third arrangement of this tune that
is only performed by the King’s College Choir, Cambridge, for the
traditional Nine Lesson And Carols performed on Christmas Eve and
broadcast worldwide on the BBC. H Walford Davies wrote this version of
O Little Town Of Bethlehem.

O little town of Bethlehem,
How still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by;
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight.
