Cohen has to be one of the most influential of contemporary songwriters. Amongst other talents he is a poet and brings a beautiful and interesting touch to the lyricism of his songs.

Music, as ever with great stars in this area, started fairly early in his life and he studied music and poetry at High School. There he also learned the guitar and formed a folk band called the Buckskin Boys.

He started out working life as a law student then wrote some fiction before turning to music. Probably his most famous, and frequently covered, piece is Hallelujah.
